Hello,

when I try to let the computer play a song in Musescore 3.0, it won't sound or move through the bars. Apart from this, when I insert a new note it has absolutely no sound either.

I just updated from 2.0 to 3.0, thinking it would fix the issue, but it did not.
This problem happens to all my scores, including new ones I create.

Thank you.

Which OS? Did you try reverting to factory settings? What does the Synthesizer dialog show, what Preferences > I/O?

If Clara's OS is Windows: Have/had a similar (maybe the same) problem here, but it only occurs when the computer wakes up from suspend or hibernation mode and MuseScore 3 is still open. Restarting MuseScore fixes the problem. Version 2 did not have this problem.
Dell Soundbar (like an external USB sound card) was selected in the settings. I will check immediately if it works with the "Windows Soundmapper", which is set under MS2.
OK, after 2 tests (Suspend+Hibernation) it didn't show up after selecting "Microsoft Soundmapper - Output" in the settings under Input/Output. I will watch it.

OS: Windows 10 (10.0), Arch.: x86_64, MuseScore version (64-bit): 3.0.0.4785, revision: c1a5e4c

I ran into this same problem. Win 7 64 bit. After 3 re-installs did not work, I uninstalled a 4th time and then manually deleted any Musescore folders that were left behind. Program Files, Program Files x86, user/AppData/Local & Roaming, All Users/AppData/Local & Roaming etc. The next install, the sound was working. I can't say which folder it was that fixed though.

For anybody who finds this thread and has the same problem: try and reset to factory settings. Doing this would probably have solved @mstorrboy's problem, since it will delete all user configurations by deleting the config files and reset the settings to the defaults, which uninstalling, deleting all the MuseScore files manually and reinstalling would do manually.

Same issue on Win10, tried the factory reset, no result. Musical notes make no sound when placed, and I cannot play the files at all. Do have some information to contribute though.

The entire play bar is grayed out. Also, in the I/O tab of the preferences, all four drop-downs in the PortAudio section are empty, and nothing happens when I click on them.

Restarting the computer, however, did fix the issue, including restoring the playback bar and I/O settings. I wonder if this issue is linked to MuseScore failing to locate audio drivers or something?
