Latest version 3.0.3.21090 changes all instruments to playback "Piano"!

• Feb 26, 2019 - 16:12

I've just upgraded to version: OS: macOS High Sierra (10.13), Arch.: x86_64, MuseScore version (64-bit): 3.0.3.21090, revision: 5a0be2a

When reopening the piece I'm currently working on all instruments have changed to playback Piano.
I can then change all instruments back to whatever they were before (choir ahh, violins, violas, etc.), however next time I open MuseScore all instruments have again be changed to playback Piano.

Happened to me too, for some very recent scores (like edited today or yesterday), but not for others.
Actually one score, attached now

They show the correct channels in Mixer though

Only three last instruments sound like a piano on my MacOS laptop. As a solution, you can reassign correct patch to the instruments in the mixer. Just select the displayed value again.

The reason of loosing the values is still interesting...

UPD: reopening leads to the piano sound, indeed. Investigating...

I downloaded MuseScore 3.0.3 portable into my UbuntuStudio 18.04.1 LTS (64 bit Linux) and I experienced exactly the same: all instruments sound as piano (or organ) when I playback scores made and/or edited with MuseScore 3.0.1 and 3.0.2.

Worst, it crashes when I try to load a typical "corrupted bars" file.

However, the new version doesn't have the annoying issue about we have to click on the "Restart audio and MIDI devices" button ("Preference" menu, "Input/Ouput" tab), which was present into versions 3.0.1 and 3.0.2.

Maybe... There is some problem between the audio/MIDI devices manager and the mixer sections of the main code... Maybe...

With my configuration, Ubuntu Studio 18.04.1 LTS (64 bit Linux), when I use MuseScore 3.0.2 and/or 3.0.1, I have to first open the "Preferences" menu, "Input/Output tab" and then click on the "Restart Audio and MIDI devices" button, to get audio from the program.

If I don't click the button, I just see the cursor moves from the score but... No audio!!!

Whatever, when I click on this button, I get audio but the cursor is "out-of-synchronize" with the sound, when we don't move the mouse around the screen. If you play something and you move the mouse, then the cursor is shown "in-synchro" with the sound.
