And remember, the play anel is only for temporary overrides for the main tempo. For real control over the tempo, use tempo text, as described in the Handbook.

But BPM of the current cursor position is displayed in play panel and adapted when you change the percentage.
So MuseScore could perfectly let you change the BPM and adapt the percentage accordingly, and then use the adapted percentage.
