How to Have Different Mixer Properties for the Same Instrument in Different Parts of a Same Song?
I am planning to write a "tutorial song." For that, I need the bass to be palm muted in one section, and then be on overdrive for another section, and then distorted for another part of the song. How do I have one instrument be all of that in different parts of the song? Thank you.
I am going to guess that Jojo-Schmitz and Shoichi will be among the first to answer.

The easiest way if there is not an extra channel is to use Shoichi's mid staff instrument change then set the mixer to what ever sound you want.
I don't think any bass (guitar) in MuseScore supports a palm mute or distorted channel, but electric guitar does IIRC. For bass there's also no sounds for these in a GM soundfont (but for electric/jazz guitar there is)

By bass, I meant electric bass.

I got that, bass or electric bass or bass guitar, all the same and neither does have those channels set up in instrument.xml or has corresponding sounds in GM. It has 'normal', 'slap' and 'pop' though
