Project
Load a score with more than one soundfont
Open the synthesizer
Start playback on the score
Change the order of soundfonts in the synthesizer
Musescore will freeze and stop responding
For me it freezes up for around 20 seconds before things go back to normal
I am using the HQ Orchestral Soundfont Collection v3.0 and MuseScore General, neither of which are particularly large soundfonts
I'm unsure if the freeze is simply because MuseScore is processing the change and taking its time, or if it's a bug. If it's acting as intended, then I would expect some sort of progress bar, or pop-up letting me know it'll take a while.
Comments
If soundfonts are in sf3 format, this process takes a little longer than in sf2 format soundfonts.
And when playing, changing the order of soundfont can easily lead to crashes.

Yeah mine were both .sf3 files. I haven't experienced a crash myself, but if that's the case then maybe you shouldn't be allowed to change soundfonts during playback to avoid these freezes / crashes?
Of course, when Musescore plays, it is better if the soundfont cannot be changed.
In fact, I'm doing this from time to time to compare my own soundfonts with others :)
And I've had freezes or crashes a few times.
This is not a big problem, I am opening Musescore again, I say "No" to the question in the pop-up window and continue to work.
However, because there is an unintended interruption in my concentration of the work, it is an unpleasant situation.
PS: (I say that; but I'm pushing those keys as long as this is allowed) 😉
