MuseScore has superseded Sibelius & it's great
I recently had to change the hard drive on my Mac and replaced it with a SSD. Sibelius refused to install and Avid were not at all helpful apart from saying I should upgrade. I decided I would try MuseScore 3 and have been on a learning curve for the last 3 days. In many ways I have found it to be much better than Sibelius even if I have to learn some new procedures.
One of the best parts for me is the ability to export MP3 files. (I produce part sound-files for 4-part choir, for rehearsal). I used to export as .aiff and then converted them to MP3.

Is there a plugin to import Sibelius files?

You must export Sibelius files from Sibelius to musicxml (or xml in older versions) using the dolet plugin prior to version 7 I believe. I realize this is a problem since you no longer have Sibelius, so perhaps you could as someone you know with Siblelius to do the export for you.
The developers have worked very hard to make MuseScore 3 the quality product it is today.

Mike320, Thanks, I do still have access to Sibelius on my laptop, so have been able to install the Dolet plugin and export the xml files.
I have to say that I have been really impressed with Musescore and found some things are much better than Sibelius. I still have to learn how to input and edit layout completely, but I'm getting there very quickly.

As you have seen, MuseScore is not just a company, it's a community willing to help if you need it.

The main reason I can think of that you couldn't install Sibelius on your Mac is that you might have had to install the latest iOS on the SSD. Older versions of Sibelius aren't very compatible. I have Sibelius 7.5 on Windows. I have been using MS lately because someday Sib. won't work anymore on some future OS. I agree that MS has come a long way. There are still things that frustrate me. But I'm more interested in playback, which is not the goal of any notation software.

Thanks bobjp, I had exactly the same iOS (the latest) on my HDD as on my SSD but it just wouldn’t install. I also tried installing it as a Windows app using Crossover, but the install stopped at exactly the same place. Very puzzling. Avid didn’t seem to be that interested. I have found MuseScore to be just as good as Sibelius and in some places better e.g. I can export directly to MP3, I can format a page more easily.
I can still use Sibelius on my Windows laptop, so I’m not overly concerned, but I do find Avid’s attitude hard to take, having spent a large amount of money on their product, their only response was to spend even more money on an upgrade!

I get it. Lots of people are down on Avid. By the way if you didn't deactivate Sibelius on your Mac, that would be a problem. Just to help me learn about both programs, at what point does the installation fail?
By the way Sib. 7 has 34GBs of sounds. Far more the the 1.2 GBs of earlier versions. I'm going to miss them when my version no longer works.
On the other hand, the font that comes with MuseScore 3 is pretty good. I've combined it with another font, Symphonic Sounds, available on this site. Though if you only use voice it may not have much appeal for you.
