"Paste"

• Oct 28, 2019 - 15:21

Hi All,
When I drag a number up or down from one string number to another in Guitar Tab "Paste" appears? It is very annoying! Why and how is this happening? It has only started to happen in recent weeks. FYI I am using MuseScore 2 on a Mac.
Thanks all

Which version 2 are you using? What did you do to your computer to make this happen? Version 2 hasn't been updated in more than a year and will never be updated again.

What do you mean by: "...to make this happen?" Do you mean the appearance of "Paste" or that I am using MuseScore 2? I am using Version 2.3.2. I have both MuseScore 2 & MuseScore 3 but I only use MuseScore 2!
Too many issues opening my many scores in MuseScore3! I enclose a screenshot of the issue; hope it helps.

Looks similar to the "improvement" windows 10 recently made that puts a giant A on my screen when I press caps lock and an A with a line through it when I turn off caps lock. I haven't restarted my computer in several days, so I suspect it's a windows thing.

Hi Guys,
Thank you all --JoJo Marc and Mike - I notice you have all made reference to "Windows" in one way or another! I don't use windows - never have never will! I use a Mac! Re my "Paste" issue I have done a serious amount of checking to try and tie it down. (a) The issue only appeared in recent weeks. (b) I have 3 Macs; 2 laptops and a MacPro. (c) MuseScore2 & MuseScore3 are installed on both laptops. (d) Only MuseScore2 is installed on the MacPro - no musescore3. (e) The "Paste" issue does not occur on the MacPro and museScore2 behaves perfectly without any issues on this machine. (f)I t seems to me, therefore, that the problem is either a conflict of some sort between musescore2 & 3 or between MuseScore and the iOS? FYI: One laptop - 13" MacBookAir is running on High Sierra - and the other is running on Mojave. The "Paste" issue happens on both of these machines and in both musescore2 & 3! But, I stress, has only reared its ugly head in very recent times. Sorry to go on a bit...

Ah, true, I know @mike320 is on Windows but I didn't notice you said Mac. Still, I have the same guess. There is nothing whatsoever in MuseScore that would cause that to appear - it has to be something outside MuseScore. So either something in macOS or in a third party utility capable of intercepting actions while other programs are running (e.g., like AutoHotkey for Windows; I assume there are similar utilities for macOS).

Thank you for the clarification. I was under the wrong impression that you used Windows 10, probably because someone else I answered right before you did use Windows 10. I'm guessing you don't see that "Paste" in any other program on either computer?

I would suggest starting a new thread to ask for help regarding the problems with older scores. Often it's quite simply to update them to look better than ever in MuseScore 3. And in any event, no reason to limit yourself to MuseScore 2 for new scores, you're missing out on some pretty incredible improvements.

Hi Guys,
Many thanks to you all. Problem solved - culprit found and neutralised! Marc, you were on the right track! I have a small piece of software installed - which I have had for years - which automatically updated recently and this is the source of the "Paste" issue! It is called PopClip and automatically selects text allowing you to copy/paste etc (It is usually very useful). When I realised that it had updated I wondered...? So, I switched it off and Hey Presto! Problem solved. If other Mac users experience the same, or similar, issue you will be able to suggest this, possible, fix.
Sincere thanks once again for your collective efforts on my behalf.
