Did you just add MDL? That's been know to slow down some systems a lot. If not, tell us more about your system and which version you are using.

MDL slows systems down because it contains large compressed soundfonts, but any other large compressed soundfonts will also require much time to load.

To download MDL you must go to the resource manager and download it from there. If you've done that and don't want it, then go back to the resource manager and delete it.
