Currently in Style →: General... only the dialog for "Hairpins, Volta, Ottava" has 'Reset to Default' buttons next to the input field.

All other dialogs in Style → General... should have these buttons too, I find it quite inconsistent that they don't, and they are/would be quite helpful when having screwed up a setting or two ;-).
Not sure why I noticed These buttons only now, as it has been the case in 2.0 ever since.

Also all these buttons should show disabled when the corresponding value set to the default already, similar to (most of) the reset buttons in Inspector, this is not the case for the ones currently available in that Dialog, they are always enabled.

Why is there no "Reset to Default" for STYLE? There is for Layout!

I've learned quite a bit since I first started with MusceScore but I am STUCK with my original CRAPPY styles!

I just want to "Reset", make a new style and apply it as I go!

I'm not quite sure what you are asking, but if you want to apply MuseScore's default styles to already-created scores, that's easy enough. Create a new document with default style, go to Style / Save Style, save the default style to a file, then load that file into any other scores you like.

If this doesn't answer your question, please use the Support forum when asking for additional help.

Marc,

Thanks again for your help. At least now others will find this work-around when they search (hopefully).

It would be simpler to have a "Reset to Defaults" button (at some point) also no mention of this in the on-line manual.

OBTW. I came across this because I can't find the ORIGINAL style - must have lost it when I upgraded MuseScore/computer!

MuseScore doesn't ship an MSS file with the default style settings. But it takes only a few seconds to create one yourself as I described above. And then only seconds to load it into another score. In fact, it would literally be fewer clicks to do this than to have to open the two style dialogs, hit the reset buttons, then close the dialogs again.
