Articulation placement

When I go to place an ornament in MuseScore, the placement is terrible. In modern music, the ornament is placed either above, or below the staff depending on which direction the stem of the note is going. There is no option for this in MuseScore. Can this be added?

I have not encountered the problem you are describing. When I use ornaments (rarely), they appear above the note to which they are anchored, regardless of stem direction.

What OS and version of MuseScore are you running? And can you post an example of the problem as it manifests itself in your system?

FWIW, this is the correct placement in some contexts, if not in all contexts. The rules for this are pretty subjective though. But the only case I know of in which we don't default to the right thing most of the time of the middle line in cases where there are no beams and this is the only note accented within the passage. So you shouldn't be seeing "terrible" placement in general - jst a few isolated cases of non-optimal defaults. if you are seeing otherwise, please psot the specific score you are having problems with.

It's not clear whether you're referring to a specific type of ornament, but I assure you that you are quite wrong when you say "There is no option for this in MuseScore." Go to Style > General... > Articulations, Ornaments, and you can decide how any given articulation or ornament should be placed.

I'm referring to accents, I think it's called Sforzato. There is no option for it to be outside of the staff. Which side of the staff the note is on depends on the direction of the stem. I can either have it above, or below, and I don't want to have to change it every time. If I have it chord automatic, then it makes it hard to read.
