That is not how segnos work - they are taken only once. If you want a passage played more than twice, you need to use repeats.

I'm not sure, what's right order do you want.
but further besides Marc's comment to use repeats in the first part: you can change the the repeat count if you want to repeat more than twice a time (right click on the last measure of a repeat --> bar/measure properties --> change the repeat count).

but I don't want to repeat the same thing twice - on only the 2nd repeat, I want to jump to the coda at measure 19.
do I just need to write it all out? i'll probably just write it out and take out the segnos/repeats entirely.. appreciate the help.

As I said, for me isn't clear the right order of playback, which measures do you mean with second repeat - from measure 38? (maybe because english isn't my native language).
May be you could write it down (first: measure ... to ..., then: measure ... to ... and so on). Would be helpful before upload an improved version ;-)

that is exactly right - thanks so much! still confused how you made it work to repeat twice but only obey the coda instructions after the 2nd verse.. but will try to look into it further.

Measure 34 shows a D.C. al Coda.
So... when the #2 ending is played (after both verses are sung), the 'D.C.' (Da Capo) indicates to return to the beginning and play 'al Coda' (up to the 'To Coda' text, followed by the Coda).
