Steps to reproduce:
- Create a score with a piano with bass and treble staves
- On a line of the score where no notes are entered (whole rests in all the bars), add a chord in the first bar of the treble staff.
- Turn on "Hide empty staves" for the score. Both treble and bass staves are hidden; neither the staves nor the chord symbol are shown.

I can get around it by filling the empty bars with slashes, but that's more work to write and more difficult to read.

This is on Mac OS X 10.11.6 with MuseScore 2.0.3.

Comments

This isn't a bug; it is the way it is currently designed to work. But for the 3.0 release, it is already implemented that text of any kind will prevent a staff from being hidden. So this new feature should satify your request.

I'm curious, though - could you describe in more detail (or attach a picture) what you are trying to accomplish? You want to see measures with rests in them instead of slashes? Why? Slashes *are* the normal way of indicating the flow of measures in a passage with chord symbols. Anyhow, if you wish to keep the treble staff even though it contains no notes, you can simply turn on the "Never Hide" option in Staff Properties.
