Four frames change to five frames

• Aug 18, 2016 - 10:42

Hi,

I have a song that has four frames in the first part and later has five frames because the solo is coming in.

I want to know how to adjust the brackets for the later part. If I change the bracket position, the entire score would be changed. How do I deal with this?

If you have other solution, you are welcome to mention above it.

Thank you.

Yes, I am guessing by "frames" you mean "staves", in which case "hide empty staves" is the way to get only four staves on one system even though there are five on another. And line breaks are indeed how you can limit the number of meassures on any given system.

If that doesn't solve your problem, please attach the score you are having trouble with and describe what you are trying to do in more detail.

I'm going to guess that he has more than one movement, each separated by section breaks, and that he wants to change the bracketing from one movement to another. As Marc mentioned, this is possible using hide empty staves, but it also requires creating 'dummy' staffs for instruments that only appear in certain movements, and it it is a major pain to manage, to put it mildly. For my concerto grosso editions, I sometimes have to do this, and I am eagerly looking forward to the day when inserting a section break will allow me to set up the next section in the same way as a new score can be set up: new instrument list, new bracketing, new everything.
