MuseScore version 1.1
Windows 7

1. Open any score or create a new score
2. Double click on the base of a bar line to enter edit mode
3. Use the arrow keys to adjust the bar line (e.g. to make it longer or shorter)
4. Save
5. Re-open - the edits are gone, everything is back to the default bar line settings

Thanks,

What do you mean by making a barline longer or shorter? As far as I know, neither of those are supported.- only eztending a barline all the way to the next staff within the system. And I haven't had any problems doing that in 1.1 (using mouse as documented, not arrow keys). I hadn't realized that using the arrows keys would temporarily make it look like you can lengthen or shorten a bar line, but I suspect that was never intended. Doesn't seem to be documented, anyhow. In which case, I'd say the bug is that MuseScore ever leaves the barline in that lengthened/shortened state in the first place, leading one to believe it was possible.

Sure. If you do what I described then you'll see what I mean. It only works with the keys though. The specific scenario for me was a situation where I shortened certain bar lines till they were invisible by entering edit mode then clicking the up key.
This allowed for a section where some parts were in free time and others where still measured. My work around when I discovered this edit wouldn't save was simply making the bar lines invisible and then drawing the ones I wanted in by hand.

I guess it's another of those cases where it depends on how many people would find this kind of feature useful. If I'm the only one who would find it useful, then sure. Call it a bug that bar lines look that adjustable. If it might be more widely useful then perhaps it is worth allowing people to save any changes they make.

It does indeed remain true that attempting to change the length of a barline by double click and arrow does not work - the line appears to be shortened, but it does not survive save/reload.

What I still don't know is if this is *supposed* to work. What is documented as working is adjusting barline length by *drag*, not by keyboard. Mouse adjustment *does* work. It affects all barlines. Ctrl+drag allows you to set the length of a single barline, and this also works fine.
