Note tails not turning for transposed instruments
Hi there, I've noticed that when I copy notes from one MuseScore file to another, changing to a different instrument (e.g. bassoon copied onto bass clarinet), the note tails don't all turn in the correct direction. If I program the notes in manually, then copy and paste between instruments, the note tails are fine. I am using Windows 7 and have attached a file to illustrate the problem.

In order to help, we would need steps to reproduce this problem from scratch. Stems *do* normally adjust automatically when you copy and paste. The only time they don't is if they were explicitly set to up or down instead of left in the default "auto" state. So my guess is that is what happened - you (or whomever created the file you copied from) explicitly set the stems down, then copied and pasted, and were surprised they stayed down. Since you (or someone else) explicitrly asked for them to be down that is correct behavior. If you want the copy to be different than the original - to revert to "auto" instead of being forced down - simply reset them using the Inspector after copying.
The stems (actually, the beams) in your file have definitely been set down explicitly, as you can see if you click the beam and look in the Inspector. The question is, how did they get that way? My guess is they were set that way in the file you started from as well, in which case this can be closed as "by design".

Thank you Marc! I'd looked at the notes in the inspector, but never thought to look at the beams. I think the issue comes from how I deal with the music. I use another program (SmartScore) to recognise the music, then export it as music .xml to import into MuseScore where I can work on it. I'll put an extra step in when I import the information to make sure all my beam (and note) directions are set to auto before I copy it in - that will save me a lot of work.
