Metronome Cursor Improvement?

The metronome cursor (if that's what it's called) disappears when there are only rests in a measure. Would it be possible to add an option to have it keep marching on through the empty measures to help students (and everyone else) develop a sense of the timing. The way it acts now, one could almost assume that playback has stopped.
If this option is already available, I apologize, but I've poked around in the help, tutorials, and forums and don't see any mention of it.
