Create a score with the String synthesizer instrument. There is a problem with the set-up in that the Treble and Bass staves are appearing as separate channels in the mixer (only the controls in the top channel are active; also, if you delete a stave, the corresponding channel does not delete from the mixer).

Similar problem with the Brass synthesizer.

Solution: Fix the set-up so both staves go through one mixer channel (as normal).

Comments

Why? It uses Synth Strings 1 and Synth Strings 2 (resp. Synth Brass 1 and Synth Brass 2), but not per staff but per part or instrument, so you can switch between them via staff text properties, just like for violin (normal AKA bowed/pizzicato/tremmolo and trumpet (normal/mute).
Both staves of these instruments by default are set to the same channel, the 1st in the list.

To me this is by design
