No superscript in chord names

• Jan 17, 2012 - 14:50

I want to use the standard chord name font, but when I put in chords such as C7 the 7 does not appear as superscript (which is what I would expect). Is there a reason for this?
Thanks

The main reason I made my comment about not expecting superscription is that I would not wish stchords.xml to be altered. From my point of view it would just make part of the chord names smaller and therefore a little harder to read. However, an alternative file with superscription would be fine.

The appearance of chord symbols is controlled by the chorname style you currwntly have loaded. The default for new scores created from scratch is stdchords.xml, which does not superscript anything that I can recall. The default for scores created with the Jazz Lead Sheet template is cchords_muse.xml, which partially superscripts the 7 or any other initial extension (eg, the 9 in C9), but superscripts additional alterations (eg, the b9 in C7b9) more. For more on chord styles, see the Handbook section on chords.
