the second part of a split measure should be excluded from measure count

Presently when a measure is split the second part of it is counted.
Would be easier that it be not.

You can exclude it from the measure count using measure properties. The problem with doing this automatically is that depending on your *reason* for splitting a measure, you may well *want* it counted. I guess you are thinking of cases where it really a single measure you are splitting to stretch it across systems or to insert a mid-measure repeat. but in other cases where people use this facility, it really is to create two separate measures. And it would be confusing and highly surprising in those cases to find measures created this not counted.

Still, worth considering if there is a way to satisfy both needs better.

I use the split to achieve line breaks synchronized with lyrics rather than bars, a presentation adapted for non-reader chorists.

A configurable choice would be just enough for me. The measure properties dialog could remind....
