New to this release, apparently! When I link a ukulele tab to an existing staff, it loads the wrong string information (e.g., A6 instead of A4 for the first string). I believe it has gotten other strings wrong too. I've updated it manually but never had this issue before.

GIT commit: 6347ed6

A6 instead A4, hmm, probably a wrong maneuver somewhere. Please attach the score showing this.
And for the next time, thanks to open a thread first in the forum.

Sorry about that - first time using the "Report a Bug" feature!

I've attached one score, where I just added a linked ukulele tab staff to the first part. String data shows the first string as "Open" (checked) A6.

I have edited string data before, on other scores, to indicate a low G fourth string (e.g., G3 instead of G4) - but never modified the first string. And I assumed my changes were score-specific.

Apologies if this is something obvious that I've messed up - and thanks for looking into it.

Best,
Steve

Thank you for attaching the score.

I do not know why, in the top staff (ukulele 1), the first string had been changed in "Edit String Data" from A4 to A6 (and with "Open" checked). And also in Staff properties, the usable pitch range has been changed.
By default it's A4 for the top string, and the usable pitch range is C4 -> A5 (amateur and professional). Open the attached file for seeing this default: Trio quatuor default.mscz

And so, you score with the default configuration: 1The Godfather - Love Theme.mscz

You said " never modified the first string". Well, it's impossible the pitch of this string changes by itself "magically". So, I suppose you have made an attempt of something, or as said, a false maneuver.
It is possible that you may be surprised by the high number displayed by the frets. Nothing abnormal. Perhaps you should consider transposing the score to make it easier to play. I do not know what your project is. You can develop it if desired on the forum.

And for the report bug, indeed, but there is this precision here :) https://musescore.org/en/node/7483#Steps-to-reproduce-bug
