OT: Another Notation Question

• Jun 11, 2012 - 14:43

Hi;
I have 123 songs that I've written in MuseScore and am now going through tweaking the almost final product, hence these questions. I have two songs that has the following format:

intro (never repeated)
main section (to repeat)
another part (never repeated)
main section (again)
main section (again)
end (never repeated)

I can put the repeats around the main section (equals sign on side with colon) but how do I get it to play the "another part" and *then* repeat the main section twice and *then* the "end"?
TIA,
Beno

Normally, you'd do that with a "DS al coda" at the end of "another part", the segno at he start of main section, a "to coda" at the end of main section, and the coda at the end. You'd also add the marking "take repeats" to the DS to make it clear to a human performer that he is to take repeat on the DS, since that is often ambiguous.

I believe MuseScore may have issues with DS's that lead directly to measures with repeats, or something like that. And of course, it isn't going to udnerstand text indications like "take repeats" or "no repeats", so you may or may not be able to get the computer playback to match the score perfectly.
