duplet possibly not interpreted as it should
Hi there,
first let me say that musescore is a very great peace of software and could help me out in a few ways in my life as choir singer.
However, I've entered a new song, and this song has a 6/8 beat, in one of the beats I have two duplets with 1/8 notes.
I thought a duplet will be played in the time of 3 notes, so that i have 6/8 with two duplets ... but musescore counts every single 1/8 note of the duplets as 1/8 and adds breaks at the end of the beat ... in my calculation I should have filled a hole 6/8 beat with two 1/8 duplets ... I'am really not a specialist in notes and maybe I'am wrong ... but I think it's a bug, isn't it ?
Would be great if somebody can enlighten me, or confirm that this is a bug, and maybe fix it .... :-)
Greets,
Thomas.

Indeed lookslike a bug.
To reproduce:
1. create a score in 6/8
1. go to note entry
2. select a dotted quarter note
3. click a full measure rest
4. Ctrl 2 (for a duplet)
Actualy behavoir:
MuseScore turns the full measure rest into a duplet (of 2 8th notes), an 8th rest and a half rest
expcted behavoir
MuseScore turns the full measure rest into a duplet (of 2 8th notes) and a half rest
Happens in 1.2 as well as in 2.0 GIT commit: fd9f5bb
Hi,
after a lot of time has passed...does this issues has assigned to anyone ?
I have more often than I thought the case that duplets are part of my scores....and it sounds really not nice if the timing isn't correct ... and every time I must think of the issue I have reported 18 week ago, and although Jojo has confirmed this issue it doesnt seem that it'll be fixed sometime.
I know there are a lot of other issues, but 18 weeks without any sign that this will sometime be fixed let me think that it maybe has been forgotten ?
Greets,
Thomas.
Apperantly not, issue still exists in the latet build 49801cc
Hold on, where's the bug? In a 6/8 measure there is space for 2 dotted quarter notes, so having one dublet (or triplet or any tuplet) taking one dotted quarter, leaves another dotted quarter , or an 8th plus a quarter, so no problem here.
So there is no bug in 1.2 nor in the nightly builds
sorry, but I thought a duplet takes time of one value of it's notes more, so a 8th duplet will be played in 3/8. This seems to me the opposite of an triplet for example ...where the triplet takes a value of its notes less ... or do I think wrong here ?
What's wrong about this then?
and how do you explain my picture ?
With MuseScore 1.2?
Maybe you didn't select a dotted quarter before hitting Ctrl-2, but just a quarter?
see http://musescore.org/en/handbook/tuplet
Test with changing the tuplet properties to show the relation:
whow! a dotted quarter .....?
It seems I've understood something wrong with the duplets....why exactly I have to choos a dotted quarter instead of just a quarter ?
because that is the desired total lenght of your duplet, see the handbook ;-)
Really sorry, I should have spotted that back in August already.
I'am sorry!
I haven't read the section for the duplet ...but now I'am happy that musescore is working perfectly for me :-)
Greets,
Thomas.
X-Mas present ;-)
What happens if you put notes in it? (What will it look like?) Because it kinda looks like a triplet.
This really worries me if not fixed because I am working on a piece and.. well it uses lots and LOTS and LOOOOOTTTTTSSSSS of duplets.
