play panel

How do I change the default tempo of the play panel? I find the tempo that comes up when I call it up to play something back is usually much too slow. It is tiresome having to slide the slider up to a faster time whenever I use it

If you know the tempo you want, don't use the Play Panel at all—just put a tempo marking at the beginning of the score via Add / Text / Tempo.

Thanks for the suggestion, but what I am trying to do is not to tell someone using the sheet what tempo to use but rather to get Musescore itself to play back at a faster tempo. Writing the tempo on the score doesn't affect the tempo that the playback occurs at. In order to change the playback speed you have to move the slider on the playback panel. It always comes in at 120 bpm, pretty standard tempo, but I generally find that when I'm editing something I am writing I want it to play back faster. I was hoping there was a way to change the default speed on the panel so that it would automatically pop up at, say, 240 and I wouldn't have to adjust it every time I use it.

You could, but actually, *that* is what the Play Panel is for - temporary overrides to the actual tempo. The intended use model is that on the score itself you put the actual tempo you intend it to be played at, just like you ut the actual notes you intend to be played, etc - everything you want the human performers of the piece to see. Then, if for some special purpose you want the computer playback to *differ* from actual intended playback, the Play Panel is a way ot quickly overriding that without needing to edit the score.
