How can I insert extra Titles or subtitles within the score?

• Sep 19, 2012 - 22:02

I'm a new convert from Sibelius 3, where it's easy to add titles for, say a new movement, or if I'm creating a test with different questions on the same page. The only workaround that I've been able to use so far is with Rehearsal marks!

Basically, you create a vertical frame before the measure which starts the new movement and add title, subtitle, composer, ... to the frame.

For more details, please look at the relevant handbook chapter .

Using a vertical frame works well for multiple movements, although you'll probably also want to turn off courtesy time and key signatures in your general style options. 2.0 will add better facilities for creating multple movements.

For creatings tests and so forth, vertical frames are also good, but rather than adding titles to those frames, right click and add regular frame text.

Thanks very much for the suggestion to insert a vertical frame, which in my Linux ver. 1.2 comes under Create=> Bar=> insert vertical frame. My problem now is that I haven't been able to insert text into the frame. It is not behaving like the Title frame in Edit mode.

Thanks very much! That works very well. I made the mistake of double-clicking the frame first, whereas that's not necessary.
... and the tip about inserting plain text for tests is also very helpful. Thank you.

You've been so helpful regarding vertical frames.
Is there any way of removing rests and bar lines to give the student a blank stave to work on?
