Make everything in View Menu Dockable

• Mar 21, 2017 - 05:48

Looking at latest 3.0, I notice the following are windows in the View Menu are currently dockable:

Pallets
Inspector
PDF Transcribing assistant
Selection Filter
Piano Keyboard

The following are not currently dockable, but I would like to make them dockable:
Master Palette
Play Panel
Mixer
Synthesizer

I realize I may have to adjust some of their dimensions to make them work as dockable.

The main reason I bring this up is because I was looking at redesign Play Panel, and was thinking it would be great if it was dockable, but then though might as well make everything dockable.

The nice thing about having these things dockable is that they can keep my desktop nice and tidy and allow me to easily have a bunch of these windows open but without them covering up something underneath.

Seconded.

Something to think about while working on the Play Panel specifically: there's duplication with the Playback Controls toolbar, and you wouldn't want them both docked in the main window at once. I remember somebody proposing combining them so that you could either have the small toolbar, or expand it out into the full Play Panel; I don't whether that's feasible, or whether you like the idea. Anyway, I trust you'll do a great job with whatever you decide and I look forward to the results!

I actually was also looking into making the individual sliders for things like Master volume and Metronome volume and tempo and position be something that can be optionally added to toolbar and be undocked/docked elsewhere....The code is not too complicated, but would have to use the native Qt slider instead of Musescore's custom "awl" sliders.
