I agree. It would useful if you want to write a multi movement piece in a single file.
If I'm not mistaken, but the new measure number layout has been greatly improved since this issue was submitted. I believe it would alright to mark this as "fixed" now. Unless another problem arises, I doubt that it would be the same issue and the one described.
Let me know if I may be wrong.
