Help! I can't figure out how to export sustain pedal information to MID

• Jul 23, 2009 - 22:21

I've been trying to figure out how to export sustain pedal information in the .mid format so that it will play in other software with sustain and etc.

Anybody know how to do this? Is it even possible?

I am using MuseScore version 0.9.4.

I forgot to mention that the software I'm trying to play the .mid file in says that the symbol for 'sustain pedal on' is CC64 (I think) and so I opened the .mid saved by Musescore with Notepad and I didn't see anything in there that remotely looked like that symbol. (I have to admit that most of it looked like gibberish though)

I have added the ped line to the score that I saved this .mid from and I even tried adding a couple of other symbols like a tenuto to the notes with no apparent affect.

As far as I know, controlers of any type are yet to be implemented in Musescore. This would include the sustain pedal that is so critical to piano music. The Tenuto (and stacatto) mark does work, however, by lengthening the note value to 100%. Are you sure you're using the latest version? Don't be intimidated by the word "unstable", I have had no problems thus far from downloading the prereleases. I'm with you in hoping for a rapid implementation of controllers.

Thanks for your reply, it's very helpful.

Now that I know that the pedal stuff doesn't work I can start focusing on how to get the Tenuto stuff working. That is only working in the new 0.9.5 version? (You are right, I am a little leery of 'prerelease' status but since you aren't having trouble I might venture in ;). )
