selected text does not delete on Delete or typing

Windows 7, GIT commit: ea1e881

1) create a score
2) add staff text
3) while editing the text, use shift+cursor or mouse drag to select a portion of it
4) Delete

Result: nothing happens
Expected result: select text should delete
