Unwanted Repeat in Coda Playback
I'm getting an unwanted repeat in the playback during the coda.
I'm pretty sure I've entered everything OK, but when I do a DS al coda, it plays the coda twice and I can't work out why.
(I also get a non-trivial pause in playback when it gets to the DS al Coda direction, but as the exported Midi handles this OK, I assume it is just taking a while to work itself out.)
See attached. Any help appreicated.

Huh. I had a section break before the coda. When I removed it, it worked fine. ????

Section breaks are for separate entire movements or totally separate songs, not for separating the coda from the rest of the same piece. Use a line break instead if the goal is to make the coda start on a new system. Having a section break in the middle of the piece is what confused MuseScore here.
Same issue came up again, see https://musescore.org/en/node/246636
Ran into the same thing. Trivial sample here: https://musescore.com/user/6353701/scores/4608431.
I see above that avoiding a section break should fix it, but still seems a bug to me.

Also note that with the section break there was a large delay at the D.S. al Coda jump, but switching to a line break fixed that, too.

Known issue, see #32696: Section break causes pause before repeats and jumps during playback. Workaround: Right-click the section break, properties, set Pause to 0

The problem with the work-around is that now instead of an awkward pause at the end of the section, I get no pause at all between the end of that section and the beginning of the next one. So it just trades one problem for another.

That is why it is a workaround and not a fix

Well, jumps are supposed to be within their section, you're not supposed to jump from the 3rd movement of a symphony back to the 1st movement.
if you want that, don't use section breaks
