Request - Ubuntu PPA debian-specific stuff to be in version control

Hey all,
I'm wanting to help get the Ubuntu PPA updated to at least 2.1. It seems to be possible but a pain in the butt. However, I can't see if the deb-specific stuff is in a publicly hosted version control system anywhere... (shoogle, correct me if I'm wrong here?) Nor do update-from-upstream instructions seem to be available. Would it be possible at least for this stuff to be publicized somewhere?
