Creating memo text with musical samples

• Nov 11, 2017 - 19:16

I want to write some notes on performance of a piece, referring to a number of samples, typically one bar, single staff. I can imagine doing this by creating a score with the examples, chopped up by frames, with text boxes. Or I could create a one page document, and import the fragments of music as .svg images. I would be grateful for practical advice, preferably from someone who has actually been through this, as to what is likely to be the simplest approach. A minor complication is that I want to do this in two languages, which involves separate character sets and fonts, and spacing options (etc); I do not understand just what is meant by "text" in a text box: is this rich text, including font changes, layout, etc etc, or just simple text strings. So one layout possibility would be musical samples down the middle of the page, English on the left and Japanese on the right.

Grateful for suggestions...

If it's more than a trivial amount of text, this sort of thing is normally easier to do as a text document with graphics. MuseScore has a very nice image capture tool to facilitate this.

Thanks!

... Why is the Handbook search function so singularly useless? Search for "Image capture", and the first three hits are completely irrelevant, then the fourth includes the phrase "see Image Capture". So there is a section heading exactly the same as my search string, but it does not get found...
