Black Friday - Presonus Notion

• Nov 24, 2017 - 04:05

It might be sort of 'rude' to post about a product on sale other than Musescore, but hey it's open source here, so just in case anyone is interested, Presonus has a 50% off sale for the Notion application. If any of you guys were thinking about trying it out, it's something like $75 American for Black Friday at the moment.

Others have spoken of Dorico and their interests in it here. If it were on sale, now that we're giving opinions, it would seem fair to give a flag to the community that it was at a discount since it may be of interest to some applications testers/users. Go ahead mods and delete the post if you find it distasteful. B.F. sales are very temporary so it's okay to delete it anyway in a few days ;)

I don't think it is rude to flag up things that might be of interest to other forum members. It would only be rude if you had a finacial interest in the company and kept trying to flog stuff.

I'm unaffiliated/not-enfranchised/lone yet understand why commercial software companies attempt to restrict forum members from demonstrating bargains from competitors. Musescore doesn't seem to have any competitors but something like distant cousins in the open-source world (Lilypond etc), although Musescore appears to be a competitor in the sense that it offers the fundamentals of notation editing and then some in a way that may influence someone to not be willing to pay for the other commercials packages, and that's sort of cool.

P.S. The two things that seem to be worth looking into for a fellow Musescore user for the above mentioned program on sale is the sound set included and the ability to link up to video.

Jeez, guys, lighten up. I'm with underquark on this one. I'm not interested in Presonus, whatever that is, but thanks for the info, worldwideweary. I think I'll start following you :-)

FWIW, I agree there is no harm in occasionally pointing out things like this. Notion is especially interesting in this context because they provide an iPad scoring app whereas MuseScore does not.
