installing updates

• Aug 19, 2018 - 16:25

i have tried to install updates, but the MuseScore Application is still titled MuseScore 2.2 and the last modified date is not current.

I have OS10.13.6 and a Chrome Browser.

I recently joined Pro with the intent of downloading parts from scores for a quintet. I cannot do so. File/Export does not give the option, and File/Parts is greyed out. I don't know if the updates would fix this.

When you updated did you do the proper process to update a program for a Mac? I use windows so I'm not sure what the process it. In windows I double click the downloaded file and it asks me a few question and replaces the existing MuseScore program.

In all versions of MuseScore, if you are in edit mode (it will say "Edit" plus some numbers in the bottom right corner) you cannot extract parts (Parts will be gray in the File menu). If Parts is gray one of three things are true.

  1. There is only one instrument
  2. You are in edit mode
  3. Parts have already been created and you are looking at a part.

If this doesn't help, then take a screen shot with your file menu open and attach it with the button tat will appear when you reply to a post.

I wanted to see the file menu rather than the edit menu. The edit menu looks like it should with nothing selected.

As far as which version you have installed, Shoich showed you the screen you get when you select Help->About...

If you've created custom workspaces or personalized the shortcut I would use Revert to factory settings only as a last resort. If you have none of these then by all means try Revert to factory settings.

That's the reason I provided the link to the instructions. If you want all parts created click "New all" then "OK" and nothing else. All of the parts will be created in new tabs under the score's tab. If you want a different combination of parts then please read the instructions I linked to.
