installing updates
i have tried to install updates, but the MuseScore Application is still titled MuseScore 2.2 and the last modified date is not current.
I have OS10.13.6 and a Chrome Browser.
I recently joined Pro with the intent of downloading parts from scores for a quintet. I cannot do so. File/Export does not give the option, and File/Parts is greyed out. I don't know if the updates would fix this.

When you updated did you do the proper process to update a program for a Mac? I use windows so I'm not sure what the process it. In windows I double click the downloaded file and it asks me a few question and replaces the existing MuseScore program.
In all versions of MuseScore, if you are in edit mode (it will say "Edit" plus some numbers in the bottom right corner) you cannot extract parts (Parts will be gray in the File menu). If Parts is gray one of three things are true.
If this doesn't help, then take a screen shot with your file menu open and attach it with the button tat will appear when you reply to a post.

Since most of the Edit dropdown menu is active, this seems likely. However, the suggestions for getting out of Edit mode (escape, clicking outside of work area) do not change anything.

Am I missing something?,

I wanted to see the file menu rather than the edit menu. The edit menu looks like it should with nothing selected.
As far as which version you have installed, Shoich showed you the screen you get when you select Help->About...
If you've created custom workspaces or personalized the shortcut I would use Revert to factory settings only as a last resort. If you have none of these then by all means try Revert to factory settings.
Welcome.
Try: https://musescore.org/en/handbook/revert-factory-settings
Try changing your browser and downloading again, but consider that you can still download scores and generate Parts with the software installed.

Edit: and try restarting your Mac

I tried restarting before my first communication.
I followed first advice and went back to factory settings using applications/Utilities/Terminal
I have attached File dropdown menu.
The version running is 2.2.1, revision 51b8386

The item under Close is the one you use to extract parts. Notice that Parts... is not grayed out. This must be done before you can export parts, which is grayed out.
Read https://musescore.org/en/handbook/parts to understand how this works. It's mostly intuitive to me, but some people have problems with it.

Under File/Parts (below close) the window that opens is all greyed out. See attached file.
Nothing I click on activates anything.

'New all'? The score was generated with 1.2

That's the reason I provided the link to the instructions. If you want all parts created click "New all" then "OK" and nothing else. All of the parts will be created in new tabs under the score's tab. If you want a different combination of parts then please read the instructions I linked to.

I finally spotted "New All" and yes, the parts appeared as tabs and could be individually printed.
THANK YOU!
Is the2.2.1 version, revision 51b8386 the most up to date?
