Hi.
The bass guitar and double bass are instruments that transpose the octave down. This means that the sound of the instrument is written an octave higher than the actual sound. The player unfortunately does not take this fact into account.

Which player? If you mean the mobile App (for iOS and/or Android) you're wrong here.
Same if you mean the player on musescore.com
It's also correct within MuseScore itself. I suppose if you use something other than the default / standard soundfont you might be hearing something different. that's assuming you selected the instrument properly - eg, actually choosing bass guitar or double bass instrument, not choosing some other instrument then merely changing the sound patch in the Mixer.
