Ties with no second note
I'm a drummer and my drum teacher always used to write out these 4 bar phrases with with a crash on an anticipation at the end. He would draw a tie off the end of the crash to indicate that it carried over into the next measure, but wouldn't write in the next note, its just to show that the crash rings out into the next measure. Is there a way to add a tie that only comes off of one note and not onto another? Handwritten example below.

If I understand correctly, you want the tie to look like it crosses into the measure after the repeat.
I think the best way to do this is to add a note in the next measure, preferably in an unused voice. click the start note then ctrl+click the end note and press + to add the tie. You may have an extra tie from the second note, just delete that if it's there. You can then select the note you don't want to see and press V to make it invisible. If it's in an otherwise unused voice you can use the selection filter (F6) and limit your selection to that voice and make everything in that voice invisible in the selection. Don't forget to make the All selection a solid check when you're done.
This method works for all versions. There are other ways I would use in version 2, but they will fail in version 3.
One way to get that is to put invisible notes into the last bar. See the attached image.
You put the note (or the notes) into the last bar, then you select all the last bar and go to the "Inspector" panel to unclick the "Visible" option box.
When you print that score, you will have an empty bar as last bar.
That's all, folks!!!
