Install and open Musescore 3.0.5
In my system (Windows 10) I cannot find any soundfont folder that, according to predefined preferences should be created under
\Documents\Musescore3\
It worked fine in Musescore 2.3.2

After installation, the folder should be set to the default locations. This works fine for me. Are you trying to change to a custom location? How are you doing this before installation? If you are changing it after installation, I wouldn't expect MsueScore to create the folder.

So, could you provide more information about what you are actually doing here?

I am not trying to change to a custom location.
I am using the italian translation of the software, and noticed that the default folder for soundfonts in the preference panel is ending with a colon
"/Documents/MuseScore3/Libreria di suoni:"
colon.PNG
While in the 2.3.2 version it was without colon
Is this normal?

And indeed, found and fixed the translation. Update translations in an hours ot so. You may need to refert to factory setting in order for MuseScore to create that folder properly
