unable to use hyphens in combination with tied notes and multi-syllable words

I'm using MuseScore 3.0.5 installed with Flatpak.

When I add a multi-syllable lyric to a tied note and use "-" + "_", the hyphen disappears. I've attached examples below. The first shows the result in MuseScore, and the second screenshot shows how it appears in the original sheet music. Basically without the hyphen, there's nothing to indicate it's part of the same word (unless one already knows what the word is).
