1) Open a score with a key signature containing some accidentals.
2) Select a few bars, not including the first one
3) Save selection in a different file
4) Open the newly created file
You will find that the key signature has been reset to C major (no accidentals). This is not what I would expect, that is, to have the same signature as the original score.

I cannot reproduce. Can you attach the score from which you are trying to save the selection, and tell us what you are selecting?
Even if you select the first measure and paste it in another file, the key signature still won't automatically appear in the new file. You have to apply the same key signature before the selection in the new file.
You haven't replied to the question for some months. Unless my understanding of the issue is incorrect, the issue should be closed.
