I am trying to Check for Update on Musescore 3 to try out the new one-note crescendos, but whenever I try it tells me that I am not connected to Internet (which is obviously not the case due to me being able to post this issue)

Can you save on line? Did you need to use the -w command line option to run MuseScore? FYI, you can use the Download>Software menu above this post to get version 3.1, it should automatically replace your existing version and keep all of your settings still.
Yea I ended up going to the download on the release notes and just installed that
