When applying different time signature to different staves, the barline still line up while it shouldn't (since the bar length of each staff is different), and it's also played back this way. Technically it would make the time signature being 4/3, 4/4 and 4/5 (rather than 3/4, 4/4 and 5/4) but when using polymeter it's also impossible to change the displayed value of the time signature so this feature is useless.
Also, when changing time signature the staff doesn't re-bar properly but that probably is already in another issue.
(I'm marking this "Major" since even though polymeter support is more of an incomplete feature, it doesn't work correctly regardless.)

I believe this is by design though.
While flawed, this is by design. I have written a page that might help you with this located at https://musescore.org/en/node/254556. Though it was written in version 2, I think it's still accurate for version 3 since the way local time signatures are applied has not changed. HTH.

Maybe it's just a personal thought but polyrhythm should probably have 4/4 and 6/6 time signature rather than 4/4 and 6/8, for example. But I guess I did miss the "changing appearance" feature which would probably allow entering such format manually. For polymeter (bars doesn't line up) though, maybe bar placement should be automated but that's a suggestion now.
4/4 and 6/6 time signature rather than 4/4 and 6/8
Since 6/6 is an irrational time signature and open to interpretation by the composer it is not supported by MuseScore. I don't see this changing any time soon unless there is an agreed upon standard created for this.
