Using macOS catalina, press help on the toolbar, open resource manager, attempt to press any install buttons. The extension downloads, but fails, producing the following error message: "Cannot import extension on read-only storage: Macintosh HD". Please fix!!!

Duplicate of #296452: Extensions not Installing in Musescore 3.3 on macOS Catalina . This is being investigated but so far it seems to be Apple's fault.

This is an odd definition of "fault". Yes, Catalina broke some applications that had been storing things in the root. Is anyone reading this familiar with the extension code? Is there, in fact, common core code dealing with extensions with hard-coded paths wired in? Does it indeed store code or data in a directory off of the root? Other products have had to deal with this (e.g., Hauptwerk),.
It seems that in a newer version of Musescore, these issues were fixed
