Violin extended bow markings

• Jan 6, 2020 - 17:47

I have looked at the Master Palette and cannot find symbols for the following common violin bow markings – the bottom three shown in the image:

  • Tip of the bow
  • Middle of the bow
  • Heel of the bow

Do these exist in Bravura? Or elsewhere?

Here is a quick DIY palette of symbols. I'm sure a violinist could improve upon this.

Download/Save the .MPAL file
Right-click on an existing palette and choose Load Palette
Select the Violin_Bowing.MPAL file

The images do not show, because the hardcoded path (probably) does not exist on your system.
e.g.

/media/ian/cc4bc580-1075-4d56-a1cb-f9703aef1419/Downloads/Violin Middle of Bow.svg

If you try this with Musescore 4, the program will refuse to start afterwards,

This until you fix the palettes file.
(I just deleted the ~/.local/share/MuseScore/MuseScore4Development/workspaces/Default.mws file)
