lost 4 days worth of work!
I was 4 measures away from finishing a full brass score, I went to save and it wouldn't save, so I went to save as, replaced the previously saved version, then closed the page. When I tried to reopen it aand all my work was gone! how can I bring it back??

You'll need to look for a backup score.
To tell you how to do that, you'll need to post what OS, version of MuseScore, and even though it's blank, the score you tried to open.
You can start by looking in the manual for info on backups.

I believe I found the backup file, but its blank too...

What do you mean by "it wouldn't save"?
Did MuseScore protest? Did Windows refuse?
Any error messages? A crash?
Maybe check for an autosaved version:

The fact that you got some sort of error message on save, then also got an empty file on save as, tells me your disk is either full or failing.
