After unticking the "transparent background" checkbox in Preferences → Tab: Export → PNG any .png or .svg files exported with a white background, instead of the paper color selected in Preferences → Tab: Canvas → Paper.

I have a hunch this might be a "works as designed" thing - which would be logical as page color is set as an application preference and not in the page layout dialog (which would clearly be a score property). Also realized it has the same behaviour when exporting to .pdf.

However, it's not obvious to users that the only choice you effectively have in your output is transparent or white background. If that's the case i'd add a note to the handbook - and maybe even better, add a note below the checkbox that clarifies this.

So, suggesting feature:
Move page color into page settings and have that setting being adhered to when exporting to closed-document formats such as png and pdf.

Text in italics underlines that this would be only logical and consistent, pun intended ;)
