No note input when the bar is selected for the first time

So there is this one little thing that I can't find a reason for. When the new score is created, if you select the empty bar and hit the letter to input the note, it doesn't do anything. You have to either press N key and start the note input mode, or select a whole rest with the mouse and input some notes. However if you entered at least one note already, selecting an empty measure again and hitting the key to create a note will produce a note as usual, even without entering a step input mode. It would be better if the notes would be entered right on.
