Renaissance notation (semi-breve, breve, etc)
I'm not sure if this is a support request or a new feature request: I am trying to find how to input Renaissance "square" semi-breves, breves etc. is this possible?

Yes, in that format. But there only appears to be the breve option, whereas I also need semi-breve and longa.

You have that in Symbols palette ("Z" shortcut). Type "longa" and "brev" or "brevis" in the search palette - image below.

Also, in Special characters (Ctrl + T + F2), "Musical Symbols" tab, and in the drop down list, go to "Renaissance and medieval noteheads and stems". The advantage: you can edit the size.

Thank you for that - I have tried both ways, but the note superimposes on top of the rest rather than replacing it. Am I doing something wrong?

You're not doing anything wrong. They're "just" symbols. To avoid overlapping note and rest, simply hide ("V" shortcut, for example, or Inspector, or similar elements in selection ) the rests involved, or notes.
