Where is the "Paste Half Duration" option?

• Aug 2, 2020 - 06:05

I read the handbook, which says it should be in the Edit section, but it isn't. I did all the right steps of selecting all the notes, copying it, and going to the Edit menu, but "paste half duration" isn't an option. I also don't see this option when I right-click.

This option is there (image below), but you must have a version greater or equal, in memory, to version 3.1. Currently, we are at 3.4.2. Look in menu Help/About, and update if necessary (probably) :)

Thank you! I unfortunately don't see that option. This is what my menu looks like below. I have my musescore set to check for automatic updates, but I also just tried manually checking for updates and it says, "An error occurred in retrieving update information; are you connected to the internet? Please try again later." I don't know if this has been a problem in the past and I just didn't know about it, or if it just started recently. I saw another forum post a couple days ago about a user experiencing the same update error message.

I also have Windows 10 (on 3 computers - I updated to version 2004 recently, but I can't believe a previous version would be the cause of your concern), and everything has always been fine with updates.
So I'm a bit surprised, and therefore don't have an immediate answer to your question (by any chance, see with anti-virus or firewalls? But I'm telling you this for lack of arguments and solutions) :(
Maybe others will help you.

Indeed, as mentioned, a flaw in the implementation of the MDL extension causes it to miss menu items that were added after the extension itself was created. Untll they fix that, best workaround is to switch to another workspace to get access to the full menus.

MuseScore comes with two workspaces, Basic and Advanced, but if you install the MDL extension, that add a third. And you can define your own. So older workspaces might not have the current menus. You change workspaces using the control at the far right of the toolbar (in older versions, the control was at the bottom of the palette).
