Musecore 3.5 Crashes After Installing Drumline Soundfont

• Sep 26, 2020 - 17:58

Hello,

I am having an issue where every time I install the Drumline Soundfont under "Resources" in Musescore 3.5, when I launch the Musescore application, it crashes at "Loading Soundfonts." This leads me to believe that the Drumline Soundfont is the issue, because the application would load just fine without it being installed. I have uninstalled/reinstalled Musescore, reverted to factory settings, disabled Start Screen, all through commands in the Run application on Windows. Nothing seems to work. Please help!

Reverting to Factory settings should have lost the (information about the) MDL soundfonts, so should not crash anymore, if indeed MDL is the culprit.
But try to manually remove MDL, it is under ...\Documents\MuseScore3\Extensions\mdl

My apologies, I should have noted that Factory resetting did do the trick, however I am still in search of a way of being able to run Musescore 3 with the MDL soundfont. Most of the writing I do includes marching percussion, and it would be a great help to have this soundfont while working.

It's probably a stupid question, but do you have a system with the minimum requirements? This is what's listed in the MDL tutorial:

Minimal System Requirements - All Operating Systems

CPU with SSE2 support (all processors since 2006), but see Unsupported versions for Windows.
250MB hard disk space
1024x600 pixel resolution
2GB RAM

Recommended System Requirements - All Operating Systems

CPU with SSE2 support (all processors since 2006), but see Unsupported versions for Windows.
500MB hard disk space
1024x600 pixel resolution
4GB RAM
