How do i stop invisible notes from affecting the bar length?

I believe this is done on purpose, and sort of the exception of the rule (then invisible elements should not affect layout)

Assuming you really do need to add those notes (the trill should already play by default, and there are settings in the Inspector to control how it plays), best to add them on another staff you can make completely invisible.
